I love to be respected, in fact I grew up demanding respect from everyone I am older than, countless times I would scold my junior ones for any act of disrespect.
At a point in my life I started keeping to myself, no friends, no acquaintance, not even an enemy, just because I don’t want to be disrespected. But I eventually became myself greatest enemy.
Respect is never about others and sometimes it is not what we defined it to be. Respect is mostly earn not something to be demanded.
